Immediately every animal charged at the large rat. Luckily, I had a broom in my hand so I guided the rat on the floor from my refrigerator to the stove to the end of the counter, down the hallway, past the pantry, the coat closet, the window seat and out the front door that Tomcat had left open. The dogs and cats were trying to get the terrified rat the whole way. I slammed the door shut and bolted it.
