And I don’t want a handout.It’s so funny because when I see Muslim women around my community of  I make an effort to make eye contact with them when I’m walking past or holding a door for them and smiling broadly/saying hello so that I can be an “ambassador” — letting her know that I see her, that I understand she does not represent what they try to make us fear through lies and exaggerations, to extend a tiny bit of connection and togetherness.
